Welcome to R.i.b.b.o.n.s of S.i.l.k! This site takes place in an AU (alternate universe). The characters in this site live in an old-time village where the schools consist only of two grades with two teachers, and most villagers are farmers. The girls in the village (and the castle) marry at about fifteen and their father's choose who their husband is. Balls are frequent up at the castle and the royal family is very excited about the upcoming Spring Ball. Meanwhile, in the village, someone or something is picking off livestock from the villagers. The people of the village are filled with fear, frightened so that they travel together, not straying from a small group.

Abigail gave an involantary gasp as the zipper of her new dress was yanked closed. "Sorry, Miss Abigail," apologized Sophia with a thick british accent. Abigail gave a nod of acknowledgement for the apology.
The dress was beautiful; it would be worth a few hours of uncomfort if she she got to be seen in this beauty. It was a long, lavendar piece. A pretty ebony pattern laced an intricate design around her middle. It was tight, but she could deal with it. Her heels clacked lightly on the tiled floor as she spun around, viewing herself in the dress. It's many petticoats twirled and fluffed as she moved. "It looks lovely," trilled Sophia, admiring the dress. "Thanks," chimed Abigail, happily admiring herself in the long, elegant mirror across from her. The sun hit the gems in the lace just right so the light danced off of it in brilliant rays.
She was somewhat nervous, but hid it well, pretending to show a lot of interest in the ruffly hem of her dress. She was going to dance tonight with her....(she had trouble saying the word) fiancee. He had proposed to her only a while ago, and they were going to be....married sometime this Spring. He was her first boyfriend and they wound up getting married. She felt a small twinge of unease. Were they rushing into this?
Well, it seemed like the two would be together forever, so why not get married now? Sure, she liked him, but she didn't really get to see other guys. Her marriage had been chosen long ago by the matchmaker. She didn't know what it would've been like had she been getting married to another boy. She would've had to marry him anyway, so she told herself to suck it up and think about the positives.

Caroline stood near the doorway, humming softly. Her hazel eyes rested upon her sister Abigail. What a pretty dress. Caroline envied her slightly, but her dress was pretty as well. Her's was a pale, pastel green that had frills with tiny emeralds embedded in them. The top area squeezed her tightly, but she didn't mind much. She had grown used to tight dresses over the years. "Hello Abby," she greeted, a smiled painted on her face.

"Oh, hello," replied Abigail in a dreamy fashion. You would think she was just daydreaming or something, not worrying about when she got married. "I have to go set up now, the king's orders, missus," said Sophia, bending down into an extremely low bow before backing out of the door, past Caroline. Her little maid's dress was flowing around her, fluffing out behind her as she bowed.

"Nice dress, I'm jealous," Carrie smiled, a glint in her eye. She was jealous for another reason too, Abigail had a fiancee. Lucky. Carrie hadn't even met anyone yet. Eyes dreamy, she gestured toward her Easter green dress and it's many frills.

"Thanks," said Abigail, the dreamy quality still in her voice. After a few sharp blinks she came out of her thoughts. She sat down on the padded bench next to the window. It had three panes of glass in a half-hexagon shape. She looked out at the clouds, almost forgetting where she was for a moment; she was picturing herself walking down a large isle, pink flowers fluttering down while she headed down to meet her fiancee.
She swallowed as she realized that this would come true soon.

"Thinking about your boyfriend?" Carrie teased. Twirling a strand of hair on her finger, she walked casually over to Abigail, her heels tapping on the wooden floor. She hummed softly. What was that tune? She shook it off. Why did everything lead back to that strange melody?

"He's not really my boyfriend anymore, now is he?" questioned Abigail, mostly to herself. "Now he's my....fiancee," she said, her voice becoming hushed as blood drained from her face. She didn't know why she was so afraid of marriage, she just knew that she was. "I know, I'm such a...." She looked around as though the right word to describe herself would claim her there.

"What's wrong?" Caroline asked, concern in her tone. Sitting down next to Abigail, she fixed her hazel gaze on her sister. "Yes, you're a beautiful girl who more than deserves that boy." Smiling, she hummed a different tune. It was the one that their mother sometimes hummed when they were little. It started out kind of dreary, and quickly became brighter and more cheerful.

"Thanks, but I think we might be....rushing into this," she murmured. Now her eyes were locked on the pale hands that were resting lightly in her lap, on top of the pale dress she was wearing. "Let's go down already," she said quietly before getting up and heading out the doorway, having to pull her frills through the door.
Abigail wasn't the type of girl to dwell on things, but this was a special occasion. Of course she loved him....but she couldn't help wondering if there was another boy that would've been better for her. Well, it didn't matter anyway. She sucked in a deep breath - which didn't make much difference because the corset she was now wearing held her stomach in tightly.

Caroline sighed in reply. Staring at the doorway where her little sister had been, she stood up. She brushed a strand of dark brown hair out of her eye. Life was a lot less complicated without a boyfriend. Walking out of the doorway, she decided to take and walk and headed out the door. Maybe if she got a little fresh-air, she could think of some advice for Abigail.
